I believe the NP420 should bolt right in. I had a '51 Dodge 1/2 ton truck with the 'after' model of 4 speed. I rebuilt the '51 engine and used it in my '49 B1PW Power Wagon. I don't remember any problems putting it together, but that was almost 15 years ago.
