Well when will this question come to rest. Here is the answer....ALL flat head 6's have hardend valve seat inserts on the exhaust. Leaded fuel was not around when these engines were first introduced. It was developed during WW2 but for airplane engines, the average guy in 1941 was NOT going to put AV-GAS in his car...hell he was lucky just to get gasoline....any type..for his car in 1941...to replace the water injection systems...later it was found to eliminate knock in higher compression engines of the 50's......UNLEADED was refered to as WHITE GAS and was also used as a Coleman Lantern fuel..as it still can be today.....On another note...todays 87 octane is 30 octane points higher than is needed to run these old FLH on....so if you put in 87 you are giving your engine PREMIUM GAS!!!!
