On Vancouver Island, the highways maintenance contractor uses magnesium cloride as an anti-icing pre treatment on the highways. I drive the mostly highway with my GMC pickup and when at the dealer for an alignment check, they thought it was a down east truck because of all the surface rust. Suprized when they found out it camefrom their showroom two years before. I regularly was the underside but it looks like crap under there.
