Yes, NV4500's were hung behind the small block V8's. A few years ago, I have a Bell Housing for a NV-4500 that was off a Small Block V8 ie 318/360/

And Yes again, you will have to rework the sheet metal con the tranny hump as the shifter will want to come thru in a further back location than did the OEM equipment.

Your going to find space will be a serious issue if you retained the NP-200 with the intermediate propeller shaft. You can use the NP-200 in its OEM location, but you must use a 1993 GM NV-4500. Even so you end up with a roughly 7 inch intermediate propeller shaft. This is why I mentioned a married NP-205. All in all it will take up less space and still retain an acceptable drive shaft angle.
