With a single stage paint you must apply with color coverage, color coverage and also good application to get a nice flow out.

With Base/Clear, you can concentrate on the base to get good color coverage. You can also repair and color problems. Then you can switch your concentration to applying the clear for proper flow out = gloss.

Back in 2000 when I was getting ready to shoot the Bumblebee, the local PPG store guys
told me to use Base/Clear as a amateur painter. They told me to apply as they instructed and I would get a nice job with no or minimum problems. I did exactly what they said, and have not altered on any of my later trucks, Corvette or Jeep.

As mentioned, its my opinion from a amateur painter
