The manufacturer/marketer was terminated as a manure spreader salesman by John Deere for laying too much crap on customers, so he reincarnated himself as a welder salesman.
Plasma welders were well developed by Hobart Bros back before IndochinaThugWorks bought Hobart Bros. The product line was spun off as part of the lawsuit settlement, and left laying because of very limited application.
The process is brutal, and not at all near anything a man wants to run. Its use is limited to repairing deep cracks. The Army was experimenting with it to repair tank hulls.
