I cut the aluminum elbow 1/2 ways between the base and end. Then cut angle cuts to head the hose end where I wanted it to clear the cross member. When it was all mocked up, I gave it to a friend who tig welded it for me, as I dont have a tig welder. Its fine, no leaks.
Also on all 5 of my old iron/cummins swaps, I have the radiator shop change the in/out ports on the radiator to match the sizes on the engines. THis way, no messy step ups or step downs are needed in the hoses.
