I am all for owning and reading manuals, although I don't always do it. Today's experience with one was interesting.
My '68 W300 has given me fits recently, blowing fuses when I run the blower on the heater. No fun plowing snow without heat/defrost. I went after it today, reading my Chilton manual on 1967-198? Dodge trucks. Instructions for removing the fan motor said to drain the coolant, remove the entire heater unit from the firewall, then remove six screws holding a circular plate in place, and remove the fan motor from the heater housing. I decided to try the six screws while the unit stayed in the truck. Out pops the fan. A little lubrication, and back in the truck, working fine. Thanks, Chilton. I'd still be putting it back together if I'd listened to them.
