The problem is the corrosiveness and water absorption properties of the alcohol. This can affect the metal and rubber parts in the fuel system. New vehicles have materials that resist the corrosive effects.

Ethanol fuel will eventually absorb enough water vapor to "stratify" into layers in the gas tank including an incombustible layer.

The problem with our vehicles is that they don't get used much and the ethanol fuel ages differently than non-ethanol fuel. Not too much problem if you burn up a tankful of gas each month.

I use "Stabil" fuel stabilizer in my fuel. Hopefully, this will help.

Many states have places that still sell ethanol free-gas.
