No, Japanese were already engaged in China and south east Asia on their quest for world dominance, they were afraid the US might meddle in their affairs and were convinced we would be a push over after they destroyed the US pacific fleet. In their racist arrogance they missed our carriers and failed to destroy our dry docks and we rebuilt most of our battleships to fight again.
