Come to think of it, I did the same. If I'd had the other parts to copy, I probably would have fabricated something for them too rather than buy the repro cast iron fork. I didn't care what it looked like -- just that it worked. But as it happens, I've never used the winch since I rebuilt it. I've got another truck with an MU2 on it now, that includes the fork, and I've removed the PTO and driveline when I swapped engines in it, but it'll be a real PITA to get the winch off because somebody (Wittenberg?) welded everything together. I'd probably have to sacrifice the bumper to torch the winch out of it, and then do a lot of grinding.
