"Epoxy paint makes for a decent primer because it can actually cross link with the metal molecules ."

"(3) Epoxy and prepped surfaces - I have some industrial epoxy that States that the paint must go on blasted surface . White being best . I tried cheating with the stuff and it peeled off the cold rolled .... no cross linking to the substraight"

So from your sources does epoxy a glue or does it attach itself like an etching primer. Sorry for the dumb questions but the 2 above quotes seem to be saying the opposite.

I used Urethane on frame and such. I do wear a full body suit with a dedicated fresh air full face hood.

I didn't realize you were referring to Epoxy TOP COAT color paint. I thought you were talking primers.

One thing I would like to mention to others considering the base/clear system. When you spray the color, I would HIGHLY recommend putting in the optional hardener. Especially if it is a keeper vehicle. The reason for that is if you ever have to retouch/repair it you run the risk of lifting or blistering if the hardener was not originally in the color. The reducer when reapplied to the existing surface can work its way into the paint and give you a royal mess. This is something they don't always say at the supply shops but thought I'd mention it here.

I'm like you, there is so much to learn here and with the cost of this stuff you have to do your homework.
