AS I recall the change in bolt pattern came with the 420 in 56. So no it wont bolt up to any bellhousing before 56. the splines are the same I believe. the disk is bigger on the 420 trucks. the early M37 420 will bolt up to the pre 56 bellhousing. the "up to" and 'after type" non synchros use the same bellhouing. up to ad after type refers to differences in non synchro trannies nad has nothing to do with the 420 trucks.
