When fixed my seam I used a piece of solid stock and rounded it with t table sander to match the original curves of the seam metal. Then I welded studs on the back 10/32 I think about every 6 inches then bolted it into place. A little body seam filler to finish. Looked stock when I was done. Nowt that your seam is welded you could do the same.
