I use Garnet or Black Beauty depending on project but buy it by the bulk bag or by the pallet, and I use my pressure washer with the attachment for blasting. It reduces the hazards created by blasting, like Lead Dusts or Silica Dusts, and I’m able to do it in the grass in low places to fill holes and let grass to grow over it. I then paint it with a Rust Stop Primer I get from American Coatings in Tomball, Texas (281-351-1776). Restored brothers John Deere Blasted and Painted as mentioned and some extra parts not used still in primer 5 years later setting out in weather show no rust.
