Use Neoprene inner hub seals. Pack the bearings with grease, and use old outers if you even have any. They might act as a slinger. Maybe even tear out the old leather seal. Use a bit of silicone between flange and hub.

Them inners ain't cheap. ( and I am ;^)

It just don't matter if you use modern gear oil in your wheel bearings, its how virtually all modern full floating axles are done. And the mix of grease and gear oil is harmless. But you do need some grease in there until the gear oil works it's way out there.

And Clark, if you get to the inner hub seal, there is a snap ring retaining it.

And if you want, I think I have four spare inner seals, 1990s GI surplus Neoprene. 4/$30
