I'm not saying that theory is wrong, but considering the source, it sounds like a convenient excuse for a brake lathe that isn't perfectly true.
I've got plenty of clearance for my pads, perhaps, too much? I've noticed the brake pads are so loose in the calipers that they jingle going down a gravel road.
