Forgive the long post, but it's sort of a last resort to find a solution for this problem.
I rewired my WDX last winter, with Paul's help. I replaced all wires and upgraded the system with relays, circuit panel and 12 volt alternator. All terminal ends were heat shrink/crimp connectors. The system worked flawlessly. Turn on the key, idiot light (we'll call it dash light from here on), comes on, start the truck and dash light goes off. I started driving the truck regularly last May. About 3 or 4 months ago the dash light started coming on intermittently while driving, and the volt meter drops from 14+ volts to 12 while driving, but not necessarily at the same time the dash light comes on. I have the negative post on the battery grounded to the frame, the block grounded to the frame, and the cab grounded to the frame. The place where I bought the new alternator (internal regulator) gave me another new one. It does the same thing with the new alternator. (The belt is tight, and all connections are clean and tight). The problem is becoming more and more frequent. Before I take it to the shop where I bought the alternator for trouble shooting, I thought I would see what suggestions I might get. Thanks. JH
