My contribution to the family dinner today was a frying pan full of Kugeli.

The penultimate Lithuanian soul food. Kugelis is 'grated potato casserole'. It's mostly grated potatoes. The rest is also mostly grated potatoes. And some salt pork. When I was young, that was dinner about 4 nights per week.

I give thanks that my grand parent's generation came over from Lithuanian, one as a DP with an Auschwitz number on her fore arm.

And that my grand nieces and nephews don't have Kugelis for dinner four nights a week.

In fact, today was most of them's first time to even eat it.

Halleluiah.

I thank you Gramps.
