So I recently came across a picture of my Power Wagon taken about ten years ago. As you can see from the picture I posted, my truck has never been repainted, but has precious little paint left on it. Well it has even less than it did when I got it, even though it is stored under cover. I decided to investigate some type of a clear coat that might retain the look, but offer it some protection. A local Power Wagon fluent body shop did some experimentation on a rariator cowl I provided them, that was in about the same shape as my truck. They first tried shooting it without any real prep, it was as rough as a shark skin. Then they sanded it with a DA with 240 grit and shot it with a flat clear coat. It looked and felt fine. Today they started on the real truck. They sanded the whole truck lightly, and then pressure washed the whole thing. I stopped by after work today and it already looks better than it has in years. The really cool thing was that on the drivers door is a hand lettered name, "JOHN S----- INC." in an arc across the door. Below that, the word "BUILDER" and below that the name of a town. It had been covered with a coat of brushed on red paint. I never had any clue it was there. The Body Man is going to get as much of the white letters to show through before he shoots the clear. I cant wait to see what the rest of the name is.
Tim
