A green scrub pad and liquid dish washing soap works well , a pail of warm - hot water with the same mix will work wonders too . Hit it with hot water and a good rinse when done . Wipe it down with wax and grease remover , depending on the age of the tank a coat of meta prep might be worth considering too .
The dish washing soap will not pass through your skin and create cancer , many of those other cleaners will .
