there was no air standards except in CA in 1968, and only for cars at that. I think they quit making them because there was no need really anymore as they built half the country with them and ford and chev were now selling 4x4s cutting into demand. 6 cylinders have some advantages offroad. low end torque for that real slow going that V8s dont have.
