At 355,000 miles I've not had any problems with the ECM. I have had some minor wiring pains, but some of that is due to '92 components being transplanted in to the '84 crewcab.

I carry two jumper wires in all my Cummins trucks, which will get you home no matter what goes wrong with the wiring. One to power the fuel shutoff solenoid on the back of the injection pump. And one to jump the starter solenoid.

I have had some mechanical fuel pump failures. The Ramcharger now has a piston-style pump instead of a diaphram pump. You can get the pump-to-filter fuel line from Cummins. I bought the $325, low-pressure, industrial fuel pump, cause people say a '94-up Dodge pump will blow the seals out of the early injection pump. My pump rebuilder says it won't, but I haven't tested his theory yet.
