My PW is a civilian ambulance that was originally owned by the county of San Diego. The PO who I bought it from in turn bought it from the county in the 70's. The county had replaced the flathead 6 with a Chevy 292 6.
The PO had a mechanic friend of his rebuild the brakes in the 90's and apparently the drums had been turned past their minimum thickness. The PO drove up to the top of his road for a text drive and realized he barely had any brakes. He slowly backed it back down his driveway, and there it has sat ever since.
It's very unfortunate that the PO didn't do a darn thing as far as maintenance and protecting the old girl. As a result, the motor has become frozen and it has all the problems expected from a truck that's been sitting and neglected for 20 years.
