The Baldwin filter I'm using is the B-164, which is ~7 3/8" long, the B-50 can also be used, but has less capacity as it's 2" shorter. They have a 1/16" orifice in the center, which means you can't pre-fill them, you have to add extra oil to the sump. Since the oil pressure relief valve only directs oil thru the filter when oil pressure is in a certain range, the filter may not fill right away, you have to watch your dipstick after an oil/filter change. The orifice is necessary to balance oil flow, substituting a full-flow filter & mount in place of the orginal bypass system is not a good idea unless you also re-engineer the pressure relief system.
