My guess is you checked stroke of a valve.

You need to pull the little hex plug over #6 and use a piece of wire to check stroke. May need to scratch through carbon. Might have a stud in that hole, used ofr throttle link on autos.

237 = long block, 254 1/2"
218/230 = short block, 23 1/2"
