when i got drafted - everything was based on
the GET test scores so all the guys like me
who got drafted right out of college did very
well and ended up with the good clerk jobs
i was contacted while in basic and given my
OJT job as a company clerk (HQ USATC & USAG)
at Fort Ord long before completing basic training. Later on some of my Draftee friends aranged for my transfer to 6th Army
headquarters at the Presidio of SF
was not happy about getting drafted as most of my friends at the time got out of it.
a few years is a small price to pay for living in this country
