Last I checked, which was several years ago, used 40' containers were $1000 at the Port of Tacoma. They may still not be much more than that at the port, but add $4 mile or so for hauling, and the price goes way up as you get further from the port. They tend to accumulate at West Coast ports because more stuff goes in containers from China to here than from here to China.
