I sold a roll of solder on ebay for $12. The guy never paid. I sent him a message. No response. I filed an unpaid item claim. He wrote to me:

"Sorry for the late reply, can please cancel the order? I found a better price elsewhere, I will leave you positive feedback, I'm sorry for the inconvenience.

I have cancelled orders if the buyer clearly misunderstood what it was I was selling, but never because they just decided they wished they hadn't bought it. $12 for a roll of solder is cheap, so I have no idea if he really found it cheaper elsewhere or not. I have to eat part of the ebay fees even if I cancel the order. I told "Austin" that I'd think about it it. I'm inclined to just keep the "unpaid item" case open and let the ebay system resolve it so he gets dinged and I don't have to pay any of the fees. Why should I do this flake a favor?

Thoughts?
