Got home today about 2:00 PM, spent till about 3:30 pressure washing copious amounts of West Virginia out of the underside of Blueberry while it was still on the trailer. After unloading, I had to pressure wash it all off the deck of the trailer!
Many thanks to Dave and Marguerite Horvath for all of the work and effort they put into hosting the Rally. Marguerite made about a dozen huge trays of very tasty lasagna for Friday nights dinner, not to mention a couple of bushels of home made cookies, and I didnt see a single burnt one in the lot. I consider myself a qualified expert here, as I personally ate at least half of the cookies! The lunch Saturday was awesome, and dinner saturday night was catered by Texas Roadhouse and the ribs were just mouth watering. Sunday breakfast was home made Buckwheat pancakes, sausage, leftover ribs, etc.
In spite of all of the time spent eating, we still were able to squeeze in time for a few great trailrides. For Fridays trailride, the weather was toasty and clear. Top down on Blueberry, tee shirt and life was great! Rain was forcast for Friday night so put Blueberry's top up, and was glad for it on Saturday. Cold, drizzly and foggy till about noon and then it cleared off but remained cool. The afternoon consisted of a trip out to Coopers Rock, for awesome views of the Cheat river valley and surrounding hills. Then on with the afternoon trailride. There was enough mud to satisfy everyones taste. Even Joel got "The Other Woman"s feet dirty! Egads.
Dave Royal was promoted to U-Boat Commander in the big mud hole.
Rob Blair, well, suffice it to say Rob held up his reputation! Home on a strap for 2 years in a row. I am sure there was a lot of other stuff going on but like the fog of war, I only saw what was going on right around me.
After dinner, Dave hosted the raffle and auction, and did an efficient and entertaining job of it. Thanks to all who donated to Mike and Karen's auction, it was great to raise some much needed funds for them. It was awfully nice to see them there, Karen is a real trooper.
This year, I was accompanied by my Wife Joan and my youngest Daughter Claire. Older Daughter drove in from DC to meet us Saturday. I was a bit apprehensive having them come, for fear that they would not have a good time. That fear was completely unfounded, they all had a real blast. Everyone made them feel totally welcome (I wasnt worried about that aspect) While I wont say that Joan has become a convert, she did enjoy herself and enjoyed meeting a bunch of you folks who she has heard me speak of. Well, enough blathering, suffice it to say thanks again to everyone, it wouldnt be a Rally without you. I just wish it wasnt so long till we meet again.
Tim
