Nick: Well, the good news is that all it takes to drop the transfer case is to remove the four bolts holding the case to the frame and the six bolts on the three U joints!!! I can pull mine out now in less than 30 minutes....
Yea, if you have oil on the speedo cable there is not too many places where it could have come from...
When I started (after the first try...) I had several leaks, and I put some silicone sealer "dams" on the casting to help figure out where the oil was originating from.
Also, I think some of the seals that are sold are single lipped. I think the federated ones are double lipped, and I would think those would be better!
The most important thing I learned is a lot of oil can come out of the shift rails, even though the seal is new and it really hardly gets used...
