george my 46 works the same way my cowl lamps dont burn either. so i guess thats the way it is. I re built plated repaired everything were dim dad told me to scrape the new paint on the inside where the whatcha ma callit touches the sides of the little buckets. They are bright as a mag light trucks on 8 volt.
