if what you are describing is a "GRAB" when
engaging (most noticeable in the lowest gears) and reverse is the lowest of the lows
the problem could be as simple as binding clutch linkage (a bind would cause a sudden
release & therefore a jerk or grab) or else
it is in the clutch mechanism itself
oil or grease on the disk facing, glazed or
loose facings. also the disk could be binding
on the shaft (spline)
could also be broken springs or other internal parts of the pressure plate assembly
