I have bled brakes + clutch slave cylinders for most of my life the way some of you are describing in the forum. Most of the time I use a cheap plastic cup with a short hose + rubber fittin that snaps on to bleeder valve( works well + is availble from NAPA KD LISLE}The older clutch master bleeds easy as it holds a lot of fluid + the slave cyl also has a large bore.On the other hand to bleed clutch cylinders on late model vehicles take some doing .Most plastic clutch master cylinders hold about a shot glass of fluid + run dry before you start to get a pedal.A while back I had a run of Ranger + S10 clutch repairs + ran into a lot of problems bleeding air out.Had a Ford E150 van that I must have put a gallon of fluid thru but couldnt get a pedal.Read about a tool in automotive trade mags for a while called Phoenix Reverse Injection system, called them had it Fed Exed next day + didnt put a half dozen squirts into the slave + had a perfect pedal. Was expensive but have had it at least 5 yrs now + have bled hundreds of clutch systems with it.I also use it on ABS systems sucessfully .When bleeding brakes + workin around pressurized fluids always wear SAFETY GLASSES.Its a good idea to wear them most of the time while workin around rust + dirt
