I have an All Trac in the rear end of my WDX. I am very satisfied with the additional traction it provides in pushing snow and in the mud. There are some things I have noticed that happen at times that you should be aware of if you are planning to run a locking differential: (1) When trying to drive along the side of a wet grassy hill in two wheel drive, the rear tires tend to break loose resulting in the rear end swinging down hill. (2)The same thing happens when using two wheel drive on ice or snow covered crowned roads. The rear end wants to slide over to the ditch. (3)While turning on hard pavement, say in a parking lot in 2nd gear, I have noticed you have to be either on the gas or in a complete coast, otherwise the locker continually locks and unlocks causing the truck to lurch violently. (4) Sometimes the differential will suddenly let go with a loud bang as its teeth mesh. The first time this happened, I thought I had broken the ring or pinion gears. These things are peculiar to locking differentials. If you are willing to put up with them, the additional traction is well worth it.
