As I threw another brick of money on the fire last night, I figured this out. We Californians all have computers and lots of money so of course its easier to find, outbid, and buy up every power wagon east of the Pecos. Why I just sent my butler out last week to bring a few in from Florida. The cost of a PW plus cross country transportation is still less that a resurfacing of one of my pools.

Ok - OK - I'm lying. Maybe there were ALWAYS more power wagons in the West because there are more mountains in the West which translates to a greater need for this type of vehicle by various departments of Forestry, etc. Add to this the fact that the west tends to use less/no salt on the roads and have better weather. The original power wagons in California are more likely to make it 40 years without rusting to pieces as opposed to a PW in Buffalo, NY. With a greater pool of PW's in the West, its only natural that more collectors might be in the west. That might account for the giant sucking sound whenever a good buy comes around. Although, if the truth be known, I would bet there are more than a few collectors East of the Miss with multiple PW's in the back yard. Just a thought.
