As Tom said you will need to bend the lock tab back in order to get the lock nut off. Most times the nut is removed with a chisel and it chews up the nut. Napa has the socket you need that will run about $25. Try AutoZone with their loan a tool program or a rental yard if you don't want to buy a socket. There is another nut the same size under the lock ring. Sockets make it much easier to remove the nuts and put them back when the time comes. Replace the wheel seal on the back side while you have it apart.
