It never even occurred to me to look at the ignition points to see if the pivot pivoted before taking the whole rig out into the hills. Local auto parts says they'll have the right one here tomorrow morning, though, so no worries there.

Now the question is will she run. Looks good with new paint and hoses on everything, but it's a collection of spare parts and cobbled-together stuff. Pedal switch on the starter gave out so I use the pedal to engage the pinion and a Ford-type relay with a push button to make it spin. Temp sender didn't fit the small hole on the new head, so there's a stub of pipe sticking out with the sender in it. Didn't want to pull the head again and bring it back to town to make the hole bigger. Carburetor is one I've never seen on a 230 before, but it fits. Air cleaner looks to be off a small lawnmower. No electrical system except starter and ignition. Boat gas tank under the passenger seat. Tube for the dip stick looks to have been made out of a curtain rod. Block drain valve is a bathroom sink shut-off. Had 3 rusty valves, which I replaced from the blown engine, with no attempt to measure or fit them or ream the guides. Ground the seats by using grinding compound with old valves with other valves welded on upside down so I could chuck it in an electric drill.

All it needs to do right now is fire up and run enough that I can drive across the creek, haul some tools, and get some wood. I did crank it till it made good oil pressure, though, so that was encouraging.
