I was watching a Youtube video about testing oxygen sensors.

The mechanic needed to provide one volt to the oxygen sensor harness to see if the sensor responded appropriately.

I usually use a one cell battery to provide low voltage to things I am testing.

The mechanic just grabbed the positive terminal of the 12 volt car battery with one hand and grabbed the terminal on the harness with the other hand. You could see on the OBD computer that the oxygen sensor was responding appropriately.

I've know since playing with a multi-meter as a kid, that the human body can act as a resistor. But, I never thought about using it to provide low voltage when needed from a car battery.
