opinions and suggestions please -
The '89 donor for my '77 cc project has a NP 205 t-case married to an NV4500. The PO used an advance adapters bellhousing to attach the transmission to the 5.9 and a chunk of square tubing under the t-case at the rear xmember. It has a single-direction 2spd Muncie PTO unit.
The LU4 winch on the donor has been broken and is obviously over-used. I think they'd actually pulled the engine/transmisison/t-case at an angle by overloading the PTO, but it might have just been slop in the mounting.
Questions -
1. Would a divorced T-case be better for pto-winch setup (to reduce some of the side-loading stress to the other components). Or is it not a big deal either way?
2. To change to a divorced 205, can I use a 2wd tailpiece for the transmission?
3. What is the bi-directional Chelsea PTO for the 205. Series 352? I can use transmission reverse with the Muncie (TG6S N7007 - CIBX, whatever that means), but I'd prefer to have both fwd and rev on the PTO.
4. If I stay with the married NV4500/205, would it be best to change to mid-90s X member? . ..since I've got to change out the '77 x-member anyway.
thanks
