Or even a cracked metal line between pump and tank. Pump will suck in air, not pull gas from tank.

On trucks with normal size fillers, I blow into them by mouth. Need to make Dizzy Gillespie Cheeks so they seal. And like musicians, inhale through you nose while holding pressure with your mouth. Keep the pressure on for as long as you can, hoping to force gas up the lines to prime the pump. Keep your mouth closed and do not inhale as you finally dogde away, a blast of gas fumes blows out. Or use an air hose, but keep the pressure down. You don't want to over inflate the tank. They are only good for a couple PSI before they bulge.
