I think newer accelerator pedals are too soft. I had an 85 dodge that took a pretty good shove to floor it and certainly no floor mat would accidently push the pedal down. That truck had no cruise control but my leg never got tired because I could kind of rest my foot on the gas pedal! My new truck I can't hardly tell I am even pushing the gas.
