aside from being cool looking, if you have a good fuel system, you should not use prime. if you lose prime and cannot draw fuel using the fuel pump lever, i would suspect there is a problem. it is a manual way to do what others have done with a 'helper' electric fuel pump a lot of people add to their trucks. i'd like to see pics of your install. good luck
