That's interesting. I haven't been in Tacoma for a few years. I read that during the depth of the "Great Recession", the median home price in Seattle had "plummeted" to just under $400K, but was now rebounding, thankfully. Apparently Tacoma isn't sharing the rebound. I've gotta say most of Tacoma has always looked pretty slummy to me, especially the south side (Spanaway, Lakewood, Parkland) where there's lots of drugs, hookers, and gangsta activity. Tacoma's got two real industries -- the Port and Ft Lewis ("JBLM" now), and neither attracts the kind of people who can afford $200K houses.
