... you can make your own, out of spare parts. The Pertronix module DOES work, and works well- my '69 Beetle has one, and it works perfectly fine. I'm extremely tight with money (out of both necessity and if you can be done cheaply, why not?), and since I had some parts laying around to utilize, I made my own for a whopping $0.

The way to do it is to get an electronic ignition slant six distributor and any LA distributor. Swap the slant six guts into the small block one, machine the housing to fit into the flathead's distributor hole, and cut/drill the V8 shaft to locate the bushing to hold the shaft. It took me about 30 minutes, and that was it. I had a spare ECU, ballast resistor, coil and voltage regulator, so no more cost to me at the time. It works flawlessly, plus the vacuum advance was necessary for running tne Holley 2-bb.l I have on it now. Either route you take is definitely worth it. The improvement is very noticeable the first time you start it up. Good luck!
