That's what I had to do with one of my boys - he was forever messing with non-stock changes, the work he was doing was rough, stuff was mostly junk and I got over fixing it. I said here's the manual, go read it and when you think you understand, we will fix it. Worked well the first time, after that I told him, you changed it and broke it, you fix it or catch the bus. It sat there for a few days and he caught the bus, then he got a mate to drive him around and it ended up sitting for months - he got all desperate when he got a girlfriend, no more problems.
