I've never heard of anybody doing what you propose to a PW.
Maybe, if you don't want to remove the dents, merely swap center sections.
Maybe you can read up on somebody doing a chopped-top roadster? They basically cut the top into quarters and then cut sections out of the pillars.
And somebody here replaced the rusted out floor in an otherwise good cab. No body work that way, just welding.
