A few years ago you offered me an automatic if I'd come and pull it, but I never got around to it. Still trying to figure out what to do with the cab, but unless I can find a hard-top cab reasonable, I may just try to piece the smashed one back together, fiberglass over all the breaks and let it be ugly. If I did that I could put some ribs inside it to make it hold the snow better.

The Boyce conversion sounds like what I need. Everybody says the hydramatics are a PITA and I believe it, especially hauling a 750 gal water tank around these mountain roads. I thought about trying to do a conversion myself, but it it just got too difficult. The Boyce thing being all made up with the bracket, linkages, and what not would be neat. What's he wanting for one of those setups?

My other option is just put the tank, fire pump, and hose reels on an M35. I have two that aren't highway worthy but could be made good enough for driving around the back roads here. I kind of like the M211 though just because it is (or was) in such good shape when I got it, having sat in the fire house all its life, and it's still 100% military under the hood. I'd be glad to do away with the hydramatic, though.

That just leave the spare tire carrier and maybe the winch as things I'd want off of the truck this guy's trying to sell me, and I'm sure he'd sell them separately. I have no idea of the $350/ton for cut-up scrap is reasonable or not. That's in Lewiston, I believe, where they put it straight on a barge, so they probably do pay the highest price around. Even at $200/ton that's $1300 for the truck, which is still more than it's worth to me.
