See that boss on the underside of cab floor directly to the right of where your spring disappears under the floor? That boss originally had a hex head cap screw that threaded down into it from above. About 1/4 to 3/8 of an inch of threads stuck out through the boss into the engine compartment (the screw was longer than needed to simply attach the floor pan above). The exposed threaded end of the screw was cross-drilled. The end of the spring hooked into the cross-drilled hole.

This was the method used to anchor the spring from the factory. If you had only asked a couple of weeks ago, I had the whole right front side of my '47 removed for exhaust work. I could have gotten some really good photos. I will see if I can get the camera down there in the hollows over this coming weekend and get a photo.
