When I started working on my M-37, the very first bolt I tried to remove was on the winch-5/8" holding a steel plate across the top of the Garwood winch. The bolt sheared off even with the winch housing. It was obviously cracked I drilled it- you could see that the rusr showed under the head of the bolt. I drilled it, broke two of the square sharp edged easy outs and then went to a reverse spiral easy-out. The impact wrench wouldn't budge it. In desperation I chucked the easy-out into an old Porter--Cable 1/2" angle drill that's about 18" from chuck to handle, put it in reverse and it backed it out
